I am worried about my fourteen year old daughter because she has started shaving her legs.
The hair was just like fuzzy baby hair and I told her that it will now grow back stronger and darker but she doesn’t believe me and says that I don’t know what I’m talking about.

Shaving doesn’t cause hair to grow back thicker or coarser or darker.
This urban legend seems to be almost universal and is obviously because hair that grows back after being shaved does in fact appear to be thicker, feel courser and also look darker.
The reason is however that hair that has never been cut has a tapered end but doesn’t after it’s been cut causing it to feel courser and thicker.
And the reason that hair appears darker after it’s been cut or shaved is that the original hair was lighter due to its exposure to the sun.
