If the only reason why you cannot afford food and housing, is because you spend your money on non-essential luxuries, your food and housing should not be subsidized. And some jobs really aren't worth spending more …

Luxury or Necessity?

When I growing up I was led to understand that only water, food, and shelter were necessary, and that if we had more than that, then we’d been blessed with abundance.

I’ve since learned that it’s not so simple, and that the definition of what necessities are has changed drastically over time, and especially in western countries.

A hundred years ago indoor plumbing was most likely regarded as a luxury, but nowadays it’s a necessity.

Before World War One, a motor car was regarded as a luxury, because only rich people had them.

And just one hundred years ago servants were regarded as a necessity rather than a luxury.

You didn’t have to be rich to have servants and even a quite humble person, such a small shopkeeper say or a clerk, would be able to afford at least “a maid of all work”, known as ‘the girl’.

The better off you were then, then the more servants you’d have and almost nobody thought of doing without servants unless they were extremely poor.

Servants were almost a necessity then , whereas now, they’d be considered a major luxury!

So what do you think?

Seems Like Lying To Infidels Is OK!,

Now take a look at this PDF that was put out by the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

And you’ll likely be as surprised by the content as I was.

Some highlights from the report:

Over the years CAIR has received numerous reports from driver’s license applicants claiming that they were denied religious accommodation.

CAIR has obtained public records from driver’s license agencies in all states and this review reached the following findings:

Religious accommodation issues impact men and women in the Christian, Jewish, Sikh, and Muslim communities.

Most states, except Georgia, Kentucky and New Hampshire, have addressed religious accommodation concerns in codes, policy manuals or administrative practices.

But five states, namely Arkansas, Mississippi, Kansas, Missouri, and Maine, recognize only certain religious practices.

The other 42 states have adopted more inclusive approaches to religious accommodation policies.

Contrary to earlier news reports, the trend in favor of religious accommodation increased after 9/11.

While three states, California and the Carolinas scaled back some of their religious exemptions, six states—Alabama, Maine, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia increased the exemptions.

I don’t remember anyone having allergies when I was growing up and neither do any other baby-boomers that I know.

We all seem to remember more and more talk about allergies starting somewhere in the mid-80s.

The only thing that will make me sneeze is a visit to the detergent aisle in a supermarket, and I don’t think that’s surprising.

So what happened?

It seems like most of us take it as a given that the Pilgrim Fathers wore lots of buckles, were deeply religious, hated s** and landed on Plymouth Rock etc. but how much of this stuff is real and how much is myth?

Good fats! Some of the best fats we can eat are olives, olive oil, fats from nuts and seeds, fats from fish, and fats from dark green leafy veggies. These fats are often referred to as Omega-3's and they are great for your body. …

I’ve read so much about “fats” over the years and am now perhaps more confused about them than I ever was!

I was told to eat margarine and not butter and I followed the advice for around 20 years but am now told it was all a mistake and that I should have kept eating butter.

Low fat diets and foods have been popping up everywhere in recent years but I’ve read that the brain, which is a pretty important organ, needs them and people’s waist-lines in the US just seem to be getting bigger.

So maybe some of you can give me the skinny on fats.

The first myth refers to the excessive consumption of proteins. A lot of people tend to believe that by consuming proteins in an excessive amounts, their bodies.

Over the years I’ve tried dozens of diets and even if I’ve religiously carried them out and lost weight, I eventually put all the pounds back on and depending on the diet I might even have ended up heavier.

I felt like crying when I just looked in the mirror and felt even worse when I surfed the web for a possible answer and found this …

In the US, over a third of the population are considered not just overweight but obese.

Many people think the answer is to go on a diet.

Report after report suggests that dieting just doesn’t work: when people diet to lose weight, they commonly put it back on (and more).

Only 5% of dieters successfully stay at their new slimmer weight.

And Researchers at UCLA in 2007 concluded that "Diets Are Not the Answer", in a report about effective obesity treatments. They found that:

"Studies show that one third to two thirds of dieters regain more weight than they lost on their diets."

"There is little support for the notion that diets lead to lasting weight loss or health benefits."

" It appears that dieters who manage to sustain a weight loss are the rare exception, rather than the rule. Dieters who gain back more weight than they lost may very well be the norm, rather than an unlucky minority".

So what can I do?

Just stay fat?

Battley was his geometry teacher, and seven years his senior. (According to Gingrich's second wife Marianne Ginther, the age difference was actually nine years–Gingrich was 16 when the student-teacher courtship began). Their secret relationship included nighttime ….. Newt was not bored of education. jteschke: Newt was not bored of education. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/social/jteschke/post_2661_b_1099186_120627427.html.
If you’ve been married for seven plus years and still enjoy or even yearn for s** with your husband or wife, then please let me and probably many others know your secret.

After nine years of marriage my husband and I mostly know what one another are thinking at any given time, what each other are going to say, and we know exactly how the s** will be.

Our problem is that there is no Passion anymore, well not with a capital P anyway.

“Don't spend more money than you make” and “live within your means” and “material possessions do not bring happiness.” If you believe one person can make a difference then all of us can create the change we want now …

I searched for happiness for a great number of years outside of myself and I believed that if I could just obtain the perfect job, relationship, or material possessions etc. then I would be happy.

I thought that if I only managed well, stayed focused, and dug in, that I could wrestle happiness out of life.

But I finally learned that my thinking was backward

Life is not a search for happiness!

Happiness is a by-product of living the right kind of a life, of doing the right thing.

Do not search for happiness, search for right living and happiness will be your reward.

Life is sometimes a march of duty during dull, dark days.

But happiness will come again, as God’s smile of recognition of your faithfulness.

True happiness is always the by-product of a life well lived.

The above is my experience, but maybe you’ve found happiness a different way, or never found happiness at all.

Please let us know what you believe.

Can a person really buy happiness?
