The media just had a field day that lasted for several months with Tiger Woods and his list of mistresses.
And speculation about his wife returning to Sweden with the kids etc continues.
I admire Woods as a golf player and that is what he is famous for and that’s what I want to hear about.
Tiger’s game has suffered and the sport has too because of the revelations.
Shouldn’t we respect the private lives of famous people a whole lot more?
I have no interest whatsoever in reading about who various sportspeople and celebrities are sleeping with, but gossip sells and I don’t see how you can stop it.
Is is ethical or even fair to dig up the dirt and to publish it?
No I don’t think it is, but most performers, entertainers and actors etc not only know what will happen if they become successful but they crave the fame and want the attention.
This is not the same as a sportsman or scientist or and inventor though who becomes famous because he achieves greatness in his field.
I don’t think Bill Gates seeks media attention and I’m sure Einstein and many others didn’t and don’t want it either.
@makTheKnife
I agree with you that most performers crave the attention but look how many turn to drugs and alcohol, and it’s not the fame that drives them to it but the gossip and the prying into their lives.
I can’t help but feel sorry for Lindsay Lohan for example.
She had looks, talent and brains and now she’s in and out of rehab and jail.
She’s not the first to be destroyed by fame and the attention that goes with it, and sadly she won’t be the last because a large amount of the public love to read about the failings of others.
Until the Tiger Woods “scandal” broke I used to tell people that he was such a great role model and at the time of Michael Jackson’s funeral I said to people, “Look what a terrible role model Michael Jackson was. Not only was he charged with being a pedophile but he was ashamed of being black. If you want a good role model then take somebody like Tiger Woods or Michael Schumacher”.
Well now we keep hearing about how Tiger curses and swears on the links which was never mentioned before, so I’m left with Schumacher.
Schumacher had a reputation for being a bit of a naughty boy on the track which is part of what made him the greatest driver of all time, and I hope we don’t get to hear that he was a naughty boy off the track too.
This is the downside of being famous. Your life will always be on the watch of those people who want to know more about you even if it’s not suppose to be their business. The point there is that when you are famous anything about you will trigger the public. That’s why even if it will destroy you as a person they will dig it out just to make some profit and that is an ugly truth about being famous.
shame on him…. he will never get his career back
I do think that just because you are famous doesn’t mean you have no right to privacy. I think it is horrible when people are exploited…even though I do think that some of them ask for it.
In the case of Tiger Woods the media should of considered that his wife was the one who would be most negatively affected by the story and was the one who hadn’t done anything wrong!
But as long as there’s a Dollar in it they will publish anything about anyone it seems, it’s a sad state of affairs.
In my opinion, people – be it famous or not are entitled to have private lives too, even they are famous. Not all information should be given to public.
