What Motivates Activists?
If you’ve never thought about what motivates activists before then maybe think about it for a moment, because the answer is not as obvious as you might believe.
Take for example the recent Gaza flotilla debacle, and the ongoing fly-in to Ben Gurion airport, for which there is no need.

There is no need because Gazan business people and various groups in Gaza have been saying for the last couple of weeks, "We don’t need more imports, we need to export more!".
A year ago things were different but since then Israel has allowed a much greater number of trucks into Gaza, and now less trucks enter than are permitted.
Because there is not the demand on the Gazan side.
So what is motivating these people to take time off work, to spend money, and to risk getting put in jail or worse.
If they really wanted to help right now then they should be trying to help the Syrians or those in Darfur etc.
Most of these so called activista are lost souls who should be prayed for.
They have empty meaningless lives and are trying to fill them with something, anything.
I read this today "In Pursuit of Israel", and decided that it too describes activism.
It is from a speech given by a Jew from New Orleans who made aliyah to Israel and served in the army.
It comes from a blog entitled, "In Pursuit Of Israel", which can easily be found by searching the name.
The reason I don’t give links to original souces is because I have no control over them, and they so often get moved or removed.
